Bio

Manjula Jayabalan is the Director of Drug Trend and Formulary Rebate Strategy at Express Scripts-Cigna. She evaluates financial data related to utilization management strategies to optimize value for the commercial offering by driving strategic direction, leadership and oversight of the product. She is responsible for delivering competitive solutions that reflect client needs by allowing for financially sustainable access to clinically appropriate therapy. 

Manjula has several years of client facing experience providing proactive clinical consultative services that maximize cost savings while achieving optimal health outcomes for patients. Manjula has acquired significant experience in the managed care industry spanning both pharmacy benefit managers (PBM) as well as leading health plans such as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. Dr. Jayabalan also has experience teaching pharmacy students and has served as a managed care preceptor. She has worked in various pharmacy settings including drug research as well as community pharmacy. 

Manjula earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Michigan. She earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy from Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy and she has a Master of Business Administration from the University of the Sciences. She has also completed a PGY1 managed care pharmacy residency at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. She is a registered pharmacist in the states of Michigan and Tennessee. 

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Manjula learned that most of her hobbies involve going to non-essential businesses, touching her face and hugs.
